The Website Utility

This useful utility crawls websites and finds errors, suggests improvements and builds extras such as website search facilities and Google™ SiteMaps.

• Search engine creation features:
  • Creates standalone website search facilities for a website, without the need for 3rd party software or databases. The following search engines can be built for any website:
    • A client-side JavaScript search engine.
    • A server-side Active Server Pages (ASP) search engine.
    • A server-side ASP.NET search engine for the .NET Framework.

• Other website enhancement features:
  • Generates a basic table of contents (site map) for a website.
  • Creates a Google^TM SiteMap XML file for the website it analyses.
  • Saves the HTML source code from each page on the website.

Sample Output

The Website Utility generates a main HTML based report for a website:

• General report for www.softwaredocumentation.info.

It also generates an errors report and an issues report in RTF format, that can be viewed in word processors such as Microsoft Word:

The evaluation version is fully function except for the following limitations:

• Only the first 5 errors/issues found in a website are shown in the RTF format reports.
• Annoying JavaScript popups on some pages in the report.
• HTML source code pages only show the first 50 lines of the page's HTML.
• Only the most frequent 50 words in the website appear in the JavaScript/ASP/ASP.NET website search facilites.
• Various other restrictions on some reports.
