Packages

The Add-in Express Extensions for Microsoft® Outlook® (the Extensions) is a plug-in included in Add-in Express packages that allows you to customize Microsoft Outlook forms and folder views by embedding feature-rich forms into the Advanced Microsoft Outlook Regions. So, you can design custom forms and views in Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002 (XP), 2003, and 2007 both programmatically and in design-time.

What are Microsoft Outlook form regions?

Microsoft Outlook 2007 provides a new way of customizing the Outlook user interface for data. It enables developers to embed custom .NET forms into Outlook windows and use any controls on any Outlook forms. This new technology was named Microsoft Outlook Form Regions. Now, due to Microsoft Outlook 2007 form regions and VSTO you can get rid of the development with VBScript and Notepad. But there is one crucial limitation in the Microsoft Regions technology - you can create custom form regions for the Inspector window and the Reading pane on Microsoft Outlook 2007 only.

What are the Advanced Microsoft Outlook Regions?

The Add-in Express Extensions provides you with more developer-friendly regions called the Advanced Microsoft Outlook Regions that work on all Outlook versions from 2000 to 2007. With the Advanced Regions:

  • You use any .NET and VCL controls on your Advanced Microsoft Outlook Regions.
  • You needn't design custom Microsoft Outlook forms manually to add your region, you can change the design of your forms both programmatically and at design-time.
  • You use Advanced Regions on Microsoft Outlook views (1 - 4 on the picture below ), Outlook forms (7 - 10 on the picture below), on the Navigation Pane and To-Do Bar (5 and 6 on the picture below).

Advanced Outlook Regions work on all Microsoft Outlook versions

The Advanced Microsoft Outlook Regions work for all Microsoft Outlook versions including Microsoft Outlook 2007, Outlook 20032002 (XP) and 2000 with or without any service packs and updates.

Supported platforms

The .NET edition of the Extensions for Microsoft Outlook is written in C# and completely supports VB.NET 2003, 2005 and VB.NET 2008, Visual C# 2003, 2005 and 2008, and RemObjects Chrome.

The VCL edition of the Extensions is written in Delphi and completely supports Delphi 5, 6, 7, 2005, Delphi 2006 and 2007.

All pitfalls are bypassed

The Add-in Express Extensions allows you to change the design of existing folder views and Microsoft Outlook forms via your add-ins and in this way to create custom Outlook forms and views. This works on all Microsoft Outlook versions: 2000, XP (2002), 2003, and Microsoft Outlook 2007. It is well known that each new release of Microsoft Office including its service packs has some minor bugs or troubles for Microsoft Outlook developers. The Extensions is tested on each version of Microsoft Outlook and it takes into account all known pitfalls that you might face when developing plugins for Outlook. So, be sure your add-in will work on all your customer's PCs.
